Good Grief Trust Charity uses Bright and Bold Digital Out of Home to support National Umbrella Day on February 10th

National Umbrella Day: Support for the Bereaved

The Good Grief Trust has used digital OOH to drive its latest message supporting a new scheme – National Umbrella Day – to provide shelter for the bereaved, which launches on February 10th.

The Good Grief Trust – which signposts to hundreds of bereavement support services – is providing cemeteries and gardens of rest, hospices and funeral directors with free umbrellas for their visitors to borrow when they need them.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of the 800-plus bespoke bereavement support services available via The Good Grief Trust’s website during what the charity describes as “this period of unprecedented grief”.

The Out of Home campaign, carrying the message Help and Hope in One Place, will run until February 14th on outdoor sites owned by Clear Channel, Ocean Outdoor, Open Media and Alight Media across the UK’s major cities including London, Glasgow, Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Manchester, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Newcastle and Southampton.

CEO of the Good Grief Trust Linda Magistris, explains: “As the death toll continues to rise and the pandemic continues to put increased pressure on front line staff, it is vital everybody who is struggling with grief knows there is a breadth of immediate support available under our umbrella.”

Adrian Skelton, Talon Group Managing Partner, adds: “It has been a real pleasure working with the Good Grief Trust to get this vital message of support out to a wider audience at this critical time. The support of the Out of Home industry has again been fantastic, ensuring we maximise the impact on National Umbrella Day itself. The flexibility of the medium ensures we can deliver much-needed exposure for bereavement support to people within their local communities and beyond.”

Individuals wishing to show their support for the bereaved can buy their own umbrellas or a Good Grief Trust umbrella pin badge from and follow the campaign on social media #GoodGriefUmbrellaDay.
