Role Description

As a Data Engineer at Talon Outdoor, your primary responsibility is to design, implement, and manage data solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. You will play a crucial role in overseeing the creation and maintenance of data pipelines, data storage solutions, data processing, and data integration, enabling data-driven decision-making within the company.

THE ROLE_

As a Data Engineer at Talon Outdoor, your primary responsibility is to design, implement, and manage data solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. You will play a crucial role in overseeing the creation and maintenance of data pipelines, data storage solutions, data processing, and data integration, enabling data-driven decision-making within the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATIONSHIPS_

  • Design and Development: Design, develop, and maintain data solutions using Azure components such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, and Azure SQL Database.
  • ETL Processes: Design ETL processes, develop integration workflows, and manage data load processes to support both regular and ad-hoc activities.
  • Data Warehousing: Design, develop, and maintain the data warehouse environment, including SQL tables, views, and schemas.
  • Pipeline Maintenance: Maintain existing data processing pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary fixes.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor data processing efficiency and propose solutions for improvements, ensuring optimal data flow.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts and technology partners to understand their requirements and ensure data solutions meet business needs.
  • Best Practices: Research and implement best practices to optimize existing processes and develop innovative data-based solutions in the ETL space.
  • Data Analysis: Be comfortable with manipulating and analyzing large datasets, including data cleansing, to provide valuable insights to the business and troubleshoot ETL issues.
  • Query Optimization: Create and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for data manipulation and retrieval.
  • Data Integrity: Develop test strategies to confirm data integrity and troubleshoot and resolve data integrity and performance issues, driving continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts and stakeholders from other teams to deliver data requirements effectively.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for database designs and data flow processes.

WORKING HABITS AND CORE SKILLS_

  • Experience working in Agile or DevOps delivery methodologies.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, with knowledge of best practices, including debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Good experience with Analytical/Reporting solutions.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with at least one scripting or object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience with configuration management, automation, and orchestration tools.

 

DESIRABLE _

  • Experience working in the Media domain.
  • Good understanding of APIs and microservices.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, e.g., PowerBI, Tableau.
